Volunteer
Our generous volunteers are indispensable and handle various library tasks including staffing the circulation desk, restocking and organizing shelves, sorting donated books, leading and assisting with programs and other projects. If you would like to volunteer, please complete a Volunteer Application (available at the library) and submit it to the Library Director. Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Donate Items
We hold a book sale every summer for which we accept donations of books, DVDs, games and puzzles in very good condition. We deeply appreciate your generosity.
Because our facility has limited storage capacity, we have firm guidelines as to what items we can and cannot accept.
Yes, Please…
- New or gently used items such as hardcover and softcover books, CDs (music), DVDs, and vinyl records
- Classic books and collectibles
- Puzzles with no missing pieces
No, Thank You…
- Items that are torn, soiled, have odors (smoky, musty, etc.), show signs of mold or mildew, or are otherwise damaged (such as handwritten notes on the pages)
- VHS, audio or cassette tapes
- Dictionaries, encyclopedias, yearbooks, textbooks, outdated self-help, health and do-it-yourself books, software, magazines, travel guides or former library items
When you donate:
- If you plan on donating in bulk: PLEASE ASK FIRST to ensure that we can accept your large donation.
- Please do not put donated items in our book drop.
REMEMBER: If you wouldn’t buy it at a book sale, please don’t donate it.
After you donate a book or other item, we will assess it. Depending upon the condition and subject, items will be considered for possible addition to the library collection, put out during fundraising events, or passed along to a more appropriate recipient. Some donated books may be recycled or brought to the Phippsburg transfer station.
